As our mantra states, “Let Your Lifestyle Be Your Medicine”, here at Holistic Living by Monin we believe that our health, quality of life, happiness, fulfillment, and longevity greatly depends on our lifestyle!

Monin Pena, founder of HLM and a native of the Dominican Republic, has had a passion for dancing and movement all her life.  When she moved to the U.S. everything in her life was changing but that passion was the one thing that stayed the same. This passion led her to other types of exercises: running/walking, volleyball, weights. Very soon she discovered that staying active through exercising and movements was a mayor contributor to her overall wellbeing. Her active lifestyle was making her feel energetic, vibrant, positive, healthy.  She even continued to exercise during both of her pregnancies.  As exercising continued to be one of Monin’s great “medicines”, she began to feel the need to share her findings with others. This need led her to pursue a personal and group training certification and to create an aerobic routine that incorporates Salsa & Merengue rhythms (JALEO).  Through this she realized that helping people become their healthiest and happiest versions of themselves was one of her purpose in life.    

In order to help others pursue their health & fitness goals, in 2003, Monin became a Personal & Group Certified Trainer and founded Caribbean Fitness where she conducted personal training sessions for 9 years. At the same time, to have her message reach the community at large, she volunteered with the American Heart Association, Churches, Universities, and other non-profit organizations. Later, in 2016, Monin realized that there was something missing in her fitness & health journey: Nutrition! In 2017 she became an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. In addition to learning about over 100 cutting-edge dietary theories, at Integrative Nutrition she learned effective coaching techniques that focus on exploring the deeper roots that cause physical illness, weight gain, lack of motivation, and unhappiness. 

With her years of experience, educational background, and passions, Monin is ready to help you and your employees achieve health optimization as well as your financial goals. Let us empower you and your workforce with fitness and health with any of these six weeks (12 sessions) programs:

1-     JALEO, Weight Training & Mindful Nutrition - Beginner to Intermediate Level– Burn calories and tone muscles while dancing to Merengue & Salsa (30 minutes.) Learn and practice the basics of weight training (20 minutes). Abs & stretches (10 minutes.)

2-    JALEO, Weight Training & Mindful Nutrition - Advance – Burn calories and tone muscle while dancing to Merengue & Salsa at a faster rate (20 minutes.)  Weight training with heavier weights (30 minutes). Abs and stretches (10 minutes.)

As we are all unique, to create their own personal health journey, both programs include two separate sessions with each individual to discuss their health history, specific personal goals, and to teach them about Mindful Nutrition. Monin will provide support and guidance and help everyone make sustainable changes based on their own needs. These personal separate sessions will be one at the beginning and the other at the end of the program.

What is Mindful Nutrition?

It means recognizing the awareness of your body. To become aware of what every bite of food does to your body. It involves listening to your body and exploring different types of food to determine which cause a positive and health effect on your body and which others do not. Mindful Nutrition is a concept subjected to many interpretations, but at Holistic Living by Monin it is based on bio-individuality, the idea that each of us has unique food needs. One person’s food can be another person’s poison. Together let us explore which is best for you.

Why a Holistic Health Coach?

Because a holistic approach goes beyond just the food on someone’s plate! This approach explores the roots of all issues, the whys of the problems. It’s not just what we eat. We all need to find balance with other factors: relationships, career, exercise, love, spirituality. At HLM we want to inspire and create a personal growth in our clients.
